PTSA Scholarships

ANNOUNCING

2021 PTSA Scholarship Winners

The Johns Creek PTSA is proud to award deserving seniors with college scholarships to further their education in recognition of their accomplishments while in high school. This year’s winners have shown dedication to not only their school and fellow students, but also to their families and local community.

The Trailblazer award goes to a student demonstrating extreme depth in one or two activities during their years at JCHS. This student has embraced their passion and grown with it, while maintaining high grades and being a leader in the field.

This year we are recognizing Aditya Bora. Adi has been involved in the Robotics program at Johns Creek and has had the opportunity to present his projects at events like the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair, the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program, and NASA Conrad Innovation Challenge. He was a leader in fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and recruiting new members for the Robotics team. As a result, the club grew, and they won 3 Innovation in Control awards and were one of 8 teams in the state to be selected for the international championship. Congratulations, Adi!

The All-Rounder Scholarship is awarded to a senior who has been involved in many different clubs, activities, and jobs both inside the walls of JCHS and beyond. The PTSA recognizes a student with multiple talents who projects “do-it-all” energy, while growing in their activities and showing great leadership.

This year’s award is presented to Jessica Tang. Jessica plays both the piano and the cello at high levels, competing in international piano competitions and being selected for the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program for Cello and acted as section leader for the JCHS Chamber Orchestra. She is also passionate about STEM, where she participates in Girls in STEM, Girls Who Code, and tutors math and physics. She is also involved in Student Government, Junior Civitans, Beta Club, and FBLA. Congratulations, Jessica!

The Laurel Schmitt Service Scholarship focuses on community service. This year’s two winners both demonstrate giving to our school and the greater Atlanta community, as well as service done on a national or international level. For the Laurel Schmitt Service Scholarship, we have two winners:

Molly McIlhinney and Izzy Nolton.

Molly has been involved with volunteering through the National Charity League since the 8th grade. She was inspired to volunteer with Foster Care Support Foundation because of twins that her family fostered. Likewise, because of a friend with autism, she spent time volunteering with Focus-Fragile Kids. Congratulations, Molly! Izzy has volunteered many hours with special needs organizations such as Special Pops Tennis and Junior Civitans. As an aspiring physics major, she has also tutored through the Science National Honors Society and Girls in STEM. Congratulations, Izzy!
